Overview
Baarle is one of the world's most complex border puzzles: a village of 9,200 people split between Belgium and the Netherlands, with 22 Belgian enclaves scattered across Dutch territory—and inside those enclaves, 7 more Dutch enclaves. The border runs through houses, cafes, and even the Cultural Centre.

Before you go
Connectivity
Mobile coverage from both Belgian and Dutch networks. WiFi available at accommodations and cafes. EU roaming applies for phone users.
Language
Dutch is the official language of Baarle-Nassau; Baarle-Hertog uses Dutch officially but French may be encountered given the Belgian context. English is widely understood in both.
Money
Both euros (EUR) and Belgian/Latin names are used throughout. Prices in listings are in euros. No currency exchange issues as both countries use the same currency.
Transport
No train station; nearest stations in Breda (NL) or Turnhout (BE). Regional buses connect to major nearby cities. Cycling is the best way to explore the village itself.
