Overview
Ariano Irpino is a hill town of roughly 21,000 people in Campania, nicknamed "la Città del Tricolle" (City of the Three Knolls) because it rises on three rounded hills at 788 metres elevation. The town preserves Norman and medieval heritage under the Lombards, Normans, and Angevins—King Roger II held his famous Assizes here in the 12th century.
