Overview
Aparri is a small trading-town gateway in northern Cagayan, sitting at the mouth of the Cagayan River where it meets the Babuyan Channel. While the town has limited tourist infrastructure, it serves as the jumping-off point for Calayan Island and lies along the route between Tuguegarao and Ilocos Norte.

Climate
Monsoon climate with dry season February-April. The town is in the typhoon belt; PAGASA maintains a meteorological station here. Best visited during dry season.
Culture
Original inhabitants are the Ibanag people. Ilocanos and Filipino Chinese communities settled during colonial times, creating a culturally diverse town.
Money
ATMs and banks are available in the town center near the public market area. Bring extra cash as options become limited as you approach the port area.
Shopping
CityMall Aparri (Cagayan Valley Road, 9AM-9PM) and Novo Mall-Aparri (De Rivera Street) are the main modern shopping centers. The public market operates 7AM-7PM.
Transport
Victory Liner runs one daily bus from Manila (Sampaloc, 3:30PM departure). Dalin Bus Line has three daily trips from Baguio via Tuguegarao. Camalaniugan Bridge (2025) now connects eastern and western Aparri.
