Overview
Anstruther is the largest of the East Neuk fishing villages, with a population of 4000 in 2022. The village dates to 1225 and was once central to Fife's herring industry until the shoals vanished in 1936.

Boat trips to Isle of May run April-September. Golf courses include Anstruther's 9-hole course and the championship Craighead course at Crail.

Transport
Bus 95 runs hourly along the coast between Leven and St Andrews via Anstruther. Leven railway station has trains twice hourly from Edinburgh.
