Overview
Andros is the largest of the Bahamas, split across three main islands (North Andros, Mangrove Cay, South Andros) with a fraction of the tourist traffic of Nassau. The main draws are world-class bonefishing on shallow flats, diving the Andros Barrier Reef, and exploring blue holes—sinkholes with cave systems—scattered inland and offshore.

Before you go
Activities
Blue-hole diving and bonefishing are the standout activities. The Andros Barrier Reef runs along the east coast. Most dive and fishing operations are resort-based and require advance booking.
Money
US dollar is the local currency. Credit cards accepted at resorts but cash preferred for local restaurants and taxis. ATMs are limited—withdraw enough in Nassau before visiting.
Transport
Bahamas Ferries runs weekly from Nassau to Fresh Creek ($111.50 round-trip adults, $71 children). Two small airports serve the island: Andros Town (ASD) and San Andros (SAQ).
Weather
Peak season is November–April (dry, mild). Summer is hot, humid, and hurricane-prone. March–June offers best water clarity for diving.
