Overview
Andermatt sits at a historic crossroads in the Swiss Alps where north-south traffic through the Gotthard corridor has passed for centuries. Before the opening of the Gotthard car and train tunnels, this was the bottleneck for all travel between northern and southern Europe.

Transport
The Matterhorn Gotthard Bahn connects Andermatt north to Lucerne and south into Ticino. The Skiarena lift ticket includes the train between Andermatt and Sedrun.
Weather
Alpine climate with cold winters and mild summers. Gotthard Pass closes November through May. Mountain weather changes rapidly—bring layers.
