Overview
Alnwick is an attractive market town in Northumberland with a population of 8,400. It is best known for Alnwick Castle, a stout defensive fortress built from 1096 that became a stately home in the 15th century.

Transport
Bus X15 runs hourly from Newcastle Haymarket (90 min journey). Alnmouth station has hourly trains from Newcastle (25 min) continuing to Edinburgh. Bus X18/X20 runs every 30 min from Alnmouth station to Alnwick town centre (13 min).
