Overview
Alcalá de Henares is a UNESCO World Heritage city just 30 km northeast of Madrid, making it an ideal day trip or overnight stop. It's famous as the birthplace of Miguel de Cervantes, author of Don Quixote, and home to the University of Alcalá founded by Cardinal Cisneros in 1499.
