Albi was the stronghold of Cathars during the Albigensian Crusade of the 13th century. The city's UNESCO-listed Cité épiscopale dates from this turbulent period.

Transport
LibéA buses cost €1.30 per ride. Two electric shuttle lines in the city center and the train between Albi-Ville and Albi-Madeleine stations are free.
