Al-Khor is a historic fishing town on Qatar's eastern coast, roughly 50 km north of Doha. Once the center of Qatar's now-defunct pearl trading industry, the city offers a quieter, more traditional alternative to the capital.

Route 102/102x buses run half-hourly from Al Ghanim Bus Station in Doha to Al Khor (1-1.5 hours). By car, allow 45 minutes via Al Shamal Road or Coastal Road Q1A.

Best visited November-March (15-25°C). Summer temperatures exceed 40°C. Spring may bring sandstorms.
