Overview
Akşehir (population ~94,000 in 2022) is a small city in Konya Province, Lakes District of Mediterranean Turkey. It is best known as the epicenter of tales about Nasreddin Hoca, a fictional "wise fool" and Sufi sage whose anecdotes of wit and satire spread from Anatolia to China, Sicily, and Kenya.
