Overview
Acajutla is El Salvador's main industrial port and a regionally important transportation hub, but it's the nearby Los Cóbanos beaches that draw tourists seeking calmer Pacific waters than most of the region offers. The area features a fringing reef—the only major coral reef on the Pacific coast between Mexico and Costa Rica—making it the primary snorkeling destination in the country.
